Home Improvement Retail Sales +1.1%
[Monday, October 15, 2012] Advance estimates for retail sales of home improvement products (NAICS 444 – Building Material & Garden Equipment & Supplies Dealers) rose 1.1 percent in September to $24.632 billion from $24.353 billion in August, according to a Census Bureau report released today. Sales were up 4.5 percent from September 2011 levels. For the first nine months of the year total sales are up 5.8 percent to $221.733 billion.
Estimates for all retail sales in September, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $412.9 billion, an increase of 1.1 percent from the previous month and 5.4 percent above September 2011. Total sales for the July through September 2012 period were up 4.8 percent from the same period a year ago. The July to August 2012 percent change was revised from 0.9 percent to 1.2 percent.
