Home Improvement Industry Stocks Roughly Even Last Week

[Monday, October 22, 2012]  The Hard Fax Composite of home improvement industry stocks gained one point in the latest week of trading, ending at 1414, and is currently up 28 percent on the year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 15 points for the week, ending at 13344, or plus nine percent on the year.

Last week the market basket of 28 industry-related stocks had 18 gainers versus 10 decliners. For the year, 25 stocks are up and only three are down.

For the coming week, investors will be looking at Wednesday’s report on new home sales for a clue as to whether the much publicized housing recovery is truly underway. Last week, home builder confidence improved, housing starts soared but existing home sales slipped sending mixed signals.
